Biography

Yaser Hassan Ali is the Editor-at-Large for Wasafiri magazine from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and serves as a lecturer at both the College of Languages at the University of Duhok and Nawroz University. He holds a PhD in Kurdish Studies from the University of Exeter in the UK, having previously earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Kurdish literature. He is the co-editor of Women’s Voices from Kurdistan: A Selection of Kurdish Poetry (London, 2021) and the author of The Rhythmic Structure of Modern Kurdish Poetry (Duhok, 2007). His previous experience includes roles as editor and editorial secretary for Peyv magazine, as well as serving as a literary editor, reporter, and translator for the Evro daily newspaper.
